Florida International University
RT London was offered the opportunity to provide lounge solutions and design recommendations for the remodel of Panther Square in FIU's Wolfe University Center. RT London’s design team worked directly with FIU and MCHarry Associates to complete space planning, electrical planning and material selections for a cohesive design including all of the soft seating and tables and chairs in this 3-story space.
The Customer Need
As Florida International University has grown, the WUC has had limited lounge space and outdated building finishes. FIU requested that Panther Square have a range of seating solutions that include private, social, and group meeting areas with hard surfaces and power accessibility for the students. The overall design allows for students to have a comfortable study space in between classes that encourages socializing within a naturally lit edgy environment. The customer also requested that all material selections be in their school colors of blue and gold. The design team worked closely with the university to select materials that offered a sophisticated color palette while complementing the theme of water.
