The Minnesota Twins, MLB team, renovated their existing spring training facility in Ft. Meyers, FL, and built a new 112 bed dormitory. All support staff, coaches and players live in the facility during spring training. The facility includes player’s rooms, a cafeteria, game rooms, common areas, along with weight and condition training areas. The facility is also used for sports camps year round.
The design firm Populous (out of Kansas City), along with the Minnesota Twins, were looking for a furniture manufacturer that could provide quality beds and case goods, accommodate their custom needs, as well as work on Florida State Contract. They were also looking for lounge furniture but had not considered RT London until a factory visit took place.
Populous and Twin’s visited RT London in Grand Rapids, MI. The factory tour impressed the Twin’s organization, and the 25 year warranty exceeded their expectations. RT London was able to provide a visually appealing room solution that did not look like traditional dorm furniture, as well as provide the custom capabilities specific to the Twin’s needs. While RT London was not considered for the lounge furniture portion of the project, the team was impressed with what they saw in the showroom. By the end of the visit, Populous specified Maxwell double beds, custom wardrobes, custom dividers/bedside cabinets, Lucy coffee and end tables, Lucy Lu’s, Hudson sofas and chairs, and barstools. All of the products were awarded to RT London.
